1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Homeschool Foundry Inc. (“Homeschool Foundry,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information about you in connection with your use of our services. These services include our websites, mobile applications, communications (such as emails, texts, and phone calls), and other online or offline interactions (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, you should not use the Services.

For purposes of this Policy, “Personal Information” (sometimes referred to as “Personal Data”) means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you or your household. Personal Information does not include publicly available information or de-identified or aggregated data.

Homeschool Foundry is headquartered in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please note that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and possibly other countries where our service providers are located.

We may translate this Policy into other languages for convenience. However, in the event of any inconsistency, the English-language version governs.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

In this Policy, “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you or your household. Personal Information does not include information that is publicly available as defined by law or information that has been aggregated or de-identified.

We collect Personal Information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Services, and from vendors, service providers, and business partners.

Homeschool Foundry processes the following categories of Personal Information for the purposes set forth below:

3. Tracking Technologies and Cookies

We and our third-party service providers use cookies, pixels, web beacons, device identifiers, and similar technologies (“Cookies”) to collect information about how you interact with our Services.   • Browsers: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete Cookies. Instructions vary but are usually available in the browser’s privacy or security settings.
  • Mobile Devices: iOS and Android devices provide options to limit ad tracking and control data collection through application settings.
  • Third-Party Tools: You may opt out of interest-based advertising from certain providers via the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://youradchoices.com/) or the Network Advertising Initiative (http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/).
  • Google Analytics: You may opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

c. Do Not Track

Our Services do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. However, you may use opt-out tools described above to manage tracking preferences.

d. Social Media and Third-Party Integrations

If you log into the Services using a social media or third-party account (e.g., Google, Facebook), or interact with plug-ins on the Services, those third parties may use Cookies or other tracking technologies to collect information. Their data collection is governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Information From or About Other Parties

In addition to the information we collect directly from you, we may receive or process information about you from third parties, including vendors, service providers, business partners, and other users of the Services.

a. Information You Provide About Others

  • Referrals: If you choose to use our referral features to invite a friend, colleague, or another homeschool parent to Homeschool Foundry, we may collect that person’s name and email address to send a one-time invitation. We do not use this information for any other purpose unless the invited person registers with us.
  • Ratings and Reviews: If you leave a review or rating of a vendor, we may publicly display your first name, last initial, city/region, and review content. Vendors may also use your reviews in their own marketing materials, subject to our Terms of Service.

b. Information Third Parties Provide About You

  • Vendors and Service Providers: Vendors you interact with may share information about your transactions (e.g., purchase confirmation, support requests, or issues). Service providers may provide us with information to improve analytics, advertising, or fraud prevention.
  • Business Partners: In some cases, you may access Homeschool Foundry Services through a partner site, app, or program. If you provide information through a partner integration, that partner may share the information with us to fulfill your request or transaction.

c. Information You Provide to Third Parties

  • Third-Party Links: The Services may contain links to websites, apps, or services operated by third parties. If you choose to provide information to a third-party site, the collection and use of your data will be governed by that third party’s privacy policy, not this Policy.
  • Third-Party Plug-Ins: The Services may include features or plug-ins (such as social media buttons) that allow information to be shared with third-party platforms. Those platforms may collect data about your interactions, subject to their own privacy practices.

d. Publicly Available Information

We may supplement the information we collect with publicly available information, such as curriculum provider details, business addresses, or public reviews, in order to verify vendor information or enrich the Services.

5. Communications

We may collect, process, and store information about your communications in connection with the Services. This includes messages sent through our platform, emails, phone calls, and text (SMS) messages.

a. Messages Through the Services

If you exchange messages with vendors or other users through the Services, we may process and store those communications to deliver them, allow you to manage them, and monitor for misuse such as spam or policy violations. We may review messages in connection with investigations into improper use of the Services or to improve communication features.

b. Email Communications

By creating an account or using certain features, you consent to receive email communications from Homeschool Foundry and, in some cases, from vendors you engage with. These emails may include transactional updates (e.g., order confirmations), service announcements, promotions, or vendor responses.

  • Opt-Out: You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by following the “unsubscribe” instructions in the email. However, you cannot opt out of receiving certain administrative or transactional emails (such as security alerts, account notices, or purchase confirmations).

c. SMS Text Messaging and Phone Calls

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls or text (SMS) messages related to your account, purchases, vendor requests, or other transactions. Standard carrier charges may apply.

  • We may use service providers to mask phone numbers for privacy. In such cases, we and the provider may log call and text data, including date, time, phone numbers, and message content.
  • You may opt out of marketing-related text messages at any time by replying “STOP.” Please note that opting out of text messaging may affect your ability to use certain features.

d. Notifications and Push Messages
If you install our mobile applications, we may send push notifications to your device. You can manage or disable push notifications through your device settings.

e. Business Communications
If you are a vendor or represent a vendor, we may contact you using the information you provide to us, make publicly available, or that we maintain in our records. These communications may include account management, listing verification, compliance requirements, or promotional opportunities.

6. Data Retention and Account Termination

We retain Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and support business operations. The length of time we keep information depends on the type of data and the purposes for which we collected it.

a. General Retention

  • We retain account information for as long as your account is active.
  • Reviews, ratings, and other public contributions are intended for long-term community use and may remain visible even if you close your account.
  • Transactional data (e.g., purchase history, payment records) may be retained for tax, accounting, or compliance purposes.

b. Account Termination

  • Closing Your Account: You may request to close your account at any time by contacting us or using account settings (where available). Closing your account will remove certain information from public view, but Homeschool Foundry may retain necessary information as described above.
  • Vendor Accounts: Vendors cannot remove their business listings or reviews by closing their account. Listings, ratings, and reviews form part of the public record of the Services and may continue to be displayed for the benefit of other users.
  • Residual Copies: We may maintain residual copies of your Personal Information in backup systems for a limited period, or as otherwise required by law.

c. Legal and Compliance Retention

Even after you close your account, we may retain Personal Information if necessary to:

  • Prevent, investigate, or identify possible fraud or misuse.
  • Comply with applicable tax, regulatory, or legal obligations.
  • Support audits, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect the rights of Homeschool Foundry, its users, or others.

7. Targeted Advertising, Sales, and Sharing of Personal Information

Although Homeschool Foundry does not sell Personal Information in exchange for money, some of the ways in which we disclose or share information for advertising, analytics, or marketing purposes may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain U.S. state privacy laws.

a. Categories of Personal Information Shared for Advertising

In the past twelve (12) months, Homeschool Foundry may have shared the following categories of Personal Information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising:

  • Identifiers (e.g., device IDs, cookies, IP address)
  • Commercial information (e.g., interests inferred from browsing or purchase activity)
  • Internet or device activity information (e.g., pages visited, clicks, engagement)
  • Geolocation data (inferred from IP address or device settings)
  • Inferences (e.g., homeschool style preferences or curriculum interests)

We do not knowingly sell or share the Personal Information of users under 16 years of age.

b. Purposes of Sharing

We may share this information for purposes such as:

  • Delivering relevant advertising within the Services or across other websites and platforms.
  • Measuring and improving the effectiveness of ads and promotions.
  • Analyzing trends in order to improve vendor listings and user recommendations.
  • Supporting vendors with anonymized or aggregated marketing insights.

c. Types of Third Parties Involved

We may share Personal Information with:

  • Advertising networks and social media platforms that deliver targeted ads.
  • Analytics providers that help us understand user activity and improve Services.
  • Service providers that facilitate marketing campaigns, retargeting, and audience measurement.

d. Opt-Out of Targeted Advertising and Sales

You have the right to opt out of targeted advertising and sales of Personal Information as defined under state privacy laws.

  • Cookie Controls: You may adjust your cookie preferences in your browser or device, or use opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://youradchoices.com/).
  • Global Privacy Controls: We recognize certain browser-based opt-out signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where required by law.
  • Direct Requests: You may also submit a privacy rights request as described in Section 13 (U.S. State Privacy Rights).

8. Children’s Privacy

Homeschool Foundry’s Services are intended for use by parents, guardians, and vendors, and are not directed to children under the age of 18.

  • No Knowing Collection: We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
  • Parental Accounts: Parents or guardians who choose to involve their children in reviews, photos, or other content are responsible for ensuring that such participation complies with this Policy and applicable laws. Content posted through a parent or guardian’s account may be publicly visible.
  • Vendors Serving Minors: Vendors offering products or services intended for children may collect information necessary to fulfill an order (e.g., student name for course enrollment). Vendors are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable child privacy laws when processing such information.

If you believe a child under 18 has provided Personal Information to Homeschool Foundry without parental consent, please contact us as described in Section 17 (Contact Us).

9. International Visitors

Homeschool Foundry is headquartered in the United States, and our Services are primarily intended for users located in the U.S. If you access the Services from outside the United States, please be aware of the following:

  • Data Transfer: Your Personal Information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers are located. These jurisdictions may have data protection laws that are different from those in your home country.
  • Safeguards: Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards to protect your Personal Information when it is transferred internationally, including contractual protections such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful mechanisms.
  • European and U.K. Residents: If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, additional rights and protections may apply to you. Please see our Terms & Conditions (European Residents: Your Privacy Rights and International Data Transfer) for more details.
  • Consent to Transfer: By using our Services, you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your Personal Information in the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this Policy.

10. Security

We take the security and confidentiality of your Personal Information seriously. Homeschool Foundry uses a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

  • Protective Measures: These may include encryption of data in transit, firewalls, access controls, secure hosting environments, and regular monitoring of our systems for vulnerabilities or threats.
  • Third-Party Providers: We require our service providers who process Personal Information on our behalf to implement reasonable security measures consistent with this Policy.
  • Limitations: Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet, mobile networks, or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your Personal Information.
  • Your Role: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for restricting access to your devices. We recommend logging out after using 

11. Your Choices and Controlling Your Personal Data

You have certain choices about how your Personal Information is collected, used, and shared through the Services. These rights may vary depending on your location and applicable law, but Homeschool Foundry strives to provide transparency and meaningful control to all users.

a. Account Settings

You may access, update, or correct certain information in your account at any time by logging into your profile. This includes updating contact information, changing communication preferences, or modifying profile visibility.

b. Marketing Communications

  • Email: You may opt out of marketing or promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails or updating your preferences in your account. You will still receive transactional or administrative emails (e.g., account notices, order confirmations).
  • SMS and Phone Calls: You may opt out of marketing-related SMS messages by replying “STOP” to any message. You may also request to be removed from promotional call lists. Please note that transactional communications may still occur.

c. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

You can control Cookies and similar technologies through your browser or device settings, as described in Section 3 (Tracking Technologies and Cookies). You may also use industry tools like the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out mechanism.

d. Reviews and Public Content

Content you contribute (such as reviews or photos) is generally intended to be public and may remain visible even after you close your account. You may request removal of certain content by contacting us, but we are not always obligated to remove it if retention is necessary for legal or operational reasons.

e. Privacy Rights Requests

Depending on your state or country of residence, you may have specific rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your Personal Information, or to opt out of certain uses. Instructions for exercising these rights are provided in Section 13 (U.S. State Privacy Rights) and Section 14 (European Residents: Your Privacy Rights and International Data Transfer).

f. Limitations

Please note that the messages you send or receive using the Services may only remain private if both you and the recipient treat them as such. For example, another user could choose to publicly post or share your message.

12. Sweepstakes, Contests, and Promotions

From time to time, Homeschool Foundry may offer sweepstakes, contests, or promotions (“Promotions”) as part of our Services. Participation in these Promotions is voluntary.

  • Information Collected: If you choose to participate, we may collect certain Personal Information such as your name, email address, and any content you submit (e.g., reviews).
  • Use of Information: We use this information solely for the purpose of administering the Promotion, including entering you into the drawing, contacting you if you are selected as a winner, and coordinating fulfillment of prizes.
  • Winner Selection: Winners are chosen at random using a third-party randomization tool (e.g., random.org). The prize for current Promotions may include, for example, a $100 gift voucher toward curriculum listed on our Services. Homeschool Foundry will contact the winner directly to coordinate prize fulfillment, which may involve purchasing a gift card from a vendor selected by the winner.
  • Disclosure of Information: We do not sell or share Promotion participant information with third parties for marketing purposes. Information may be shared only as necessary to fulfill the prize (e.g., with a vendor issuing a gift card) or as required by law.
  • Additional Terms: Promotions may be subject to additional rules or terms, which will be made available at the time of entry.

13. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Certain U.S. state laws provide residents with specific rights regarding their Personal Information. Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights, subject to verification and applicable legal exceptions:

a. Right to Know / Access

You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which the information was collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing the information, and the categories of third parties with whom we disclose such information.

b. Right to Delete

You may request that we delete Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions (such as completing transactions, detecting security incidents, complying with legal obligations, or for internal uses reasonably aligned with your expectations).

c. Right to Correct

You may request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information we maintain about you.

d. Right to Opt-Out of Sales and Targeted Advertising

Homeschool Foundry does not sell Personal Information in exchange for money. However, we may share information for advertising or analytics purposes in ways that could be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under state privacy laws. You may opt out of these activities as described in Section 7 (Targeted Advertising, Sales, and Sharing of Personal Information).

e. Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information

If we use or disclose sensitive Personal Information (such as precise geolocation or vendor tax information) for purposes beyond those necessary to provide our Services, you may have the right to limit such use or disclosure.

f. Right to Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. This means, for example, we will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide you a different level of quality because you exercised your rights under applicable state laws.

You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. For security purposes, we may require you (or your agent) to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

h. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

  • You have the rights described above, plus the right to request a list of categories of Personal Information we disclosed for business purposes.
  • You may opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising by using Global Privacy Controls or submitting a request as described above.
  • You may also request information about financial incentives, if offered.

i. Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut Residents

  • You have rights to access, correct, delete, opt out of targeted advertising or profiling, and request portability of your Personal Information.
  • You may appeal our decision if we deny your request by contacting us using the methods listed above.

j. Nevada Residents

  • Nevada law allows you to opt out of the sale of certain Personal Information. Homeschool Foundry does not currently sell Personal Information as defined under Nevada law.

14. European Residents: Your Privacy Rights and International Data Transfer

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom (“UK”), or Switzerland (collectively, “European Residents”), you have specific rights under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and UK GDPR.

a. Your Rights

As a European Resident, you have the following rights with respect to your Personal Information:

  • Right of Access: Request access to the Personal Information we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Information.
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your Personal Information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we limit the processing of your Personal Information in certain situations.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your Personal Information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to our processing of your Personal Information, including for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise these rights, please contact us as described in Section 17 (Contact Us). We may require you to verify your identity before processing your request.

b. Legal Basis for Processing

We rely on the following legal bases for processing Personal Information:

  • Consent: Where you have provided your consent, such as to receive marketing communications.
  • Contract: Where processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, such as fulfilling purchases or managing your vendor account.
  • Legitimate Interests: Where processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as improving Services, preventing fraud, or analyzing usage, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal Obligations: Where processing is required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.

c. International Data Transfers

Your Personal Information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries outside your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from those in your jurisdiction.

When transferring Personal Information internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards to ensure a level of protection consistent with applicable law. These safeguards may include:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or UK authorities.
  • Other lawful transfer mechanisms permitted under applicable law.

15. Business Transfers

We may share or transfer your Personal Information in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, financing, or reorganization of Homeschool Foundry. In such cases:

  • Personal Information may be transferred to the acquiring entity or its advisors as part of the transaction process.
  • The successor entity will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Policy.
  • We will provide notice (such as through email or posting on our Services) if your Personal Information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy as a result of a business transfer.

16. Links and Third-Party Services

Our Services may include links to third-party websites, applications, or services (“Third-Party Services”). These Third-Party Services are operated and maintained by entities outside of Homeschool Foundry, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

When you interact with Third-Party Services, such as by clicking a link, making a purchase, or sharing information, any Personal Information you provide is subject to that third party’s own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any Third-Party Services you choose to engage with.

Homeschool Foundry does not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for Third-Party Services, even if they are accessible through or linked from our Services.


17. Communications and Message Monitoring

When you use our Services, you may communicate with other users, vendors, or Homeschool Foundry directly through features such as messaging, reviews, or inquiries. By using these features, you consent to the collection, storage, and use of your communications as described in this Policy.

Homeschool Foundry may monitor or review communications where necessary to:

  • Ensure compliance with our Terms and this Policy.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, or other prohibited activity.
  • Respond to support requests, disputes, or complaints.
  • Improve the safety, integrity, and quality of the Services.

We may also use trusted third-party providers to facilitate or process communications (e.g., email delivery systems or messaging platforms). These providers are contractually bound to handle your information in accordance with this Policy.

While we take steps to protect your communications, please be aware that messages you send through the Services may not always remain private if you or the recipient choose to disclose them.


18. Financial Incentives Disclosure

From time to time, Homeschool Foundry may offer programs, promotions, or incentives that provide benefits in exchange for your participation (for example, entry into a drawing for leaving a review). Participation in these programs is entirely voluntary.

  • Information Collected: To participate, you may be asked to provide certain Personal Information, such as your name, email address, or review content.
  • Use of Information: This information is used solely to administer the program, verify eligibility, and fulfill any rewards (such as a $100 curriculum gift voucher).
  • Value of Information: We make a good-faith estimate that the value of any Personal Information collected in connection with these programs is reasonably related to the value of the benefit offered and the operational costs of administering the program.
  • Withdrawal: You may opt out of participation at any time, and you may also contact us to request deletion of your information associated with the program.

Each program will include specific terms and conditions, which will govern participation in addition to this Privacy Policy.

19. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers and devices allow you to enable a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) signal or a Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal. At this time, Homeschool Foundry does not respond to DNT signals. However, we do recognize and honor GPC signals where required by applicable law, including certain U.S. state privacy laws.

If you enable a GPC signal in your browser, we will treat it as a request to opt out of cookie-based sales and sharing of Personal Information for targeted advertising.
